Plans for 16 apartments over retail space with a community office and function room were revealed at a meeting. Leader of Wyre Council, Coun Peter Gibson, said: “Wyre’s chief executive and I have had a very positive meeting with Garstang ward councillors, the Town Council and Keyworker Homes. The new proposals take into account the views of the council and residents, and everyone seemed enthusiastic.

“There were no plans to build flats on the car park and sufficient public parking would be retained including long-stay parking, an issue which has been raised.

“When a planning application is submitted to the council in the coming months, members of the community will have an opportunity to comment on the final proposals, before the planning committee makes a decision.”

Garstang Business Centre and High Street car park are both listed as assets of community value and as such are currently in a moratorium period which prevents the council from disposing of them. This does not prevent proposals for the site being discussed.
