REVIEW: Life Is A Cabaret, Thornton Little Theatre

Thornton Cleveleys Operatic Society have been performing their Songs From The Shows for more than 40 years, and this year the theme is a musical journey through life's stages, cleverly devised by director Wendy Raw, from being born, to death being '˜Just Around The Corner.'

Sounds morose? But it wasn’t.

Just the opposite; it was a true ‘Circle of Life’ with comedy, strong voices, and foot tapping routines.

TCOS have a loyal following and the full house were certainly very appreciative.

The talented band were led by musical director Cath Stevenson with Munro Ashton on drums/percussion.

This is without doubt an ensemble show, and their enthusiasm and camaraderie shone through, but stand out moments include All Alone from Richard Edwards and the men, I Can Hear The Bells from Amy Ramsden and the ladies, Take A Chance On Me from Jo Mulholland, Enough Is Enough from Anne Lloyd Jones and Val Barton, a beautifully choreographed and danced You Don’t Bring Me Flowers, Dani Wrench with No One But You and Danny Suddaby leading the finale.

With great harmonies, local comedy from mainly Andy Bentley, Richard Harrison, and Richard Edwards and some slick routines, how can you fail to have an enjoyable night?

It’s a hand clapping masterclass of Happy Days.
