Resort snaps to be shown off at art exhibition in London

Seven pictures of Blackpool will feature in an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum.

‘The Great British Seaside: Photography from the 1960s to the Present’ will open on Friday, March 23, and feature more than 100 works from four of Britain’s most celebrated snappers; Martin Parr, Tony Ray-Jones, David Hurn, and Simon Roberts

The museum said: “The Great British Seaside documents a quintessentially British experience. It covers the country’s beaches from Brighton to Blackpool, and captures the traditions, customs and eccentricities associated with them.

“Through the work of some of Britain’s most celebrated photographers, each sharing a mutual love and fascination of the seaside, the exhibition will showcase photography from their archive collections, as well as negative contact sheets and video footage.”

Entry to the museum, in Park Row, Greenwich, London costs £11.50 for adults, £5 for children, £10.50 for concessions.

The exhibit will open until September 30.
