Resort to host World Mental Health Day celebration

Blackpool's Time to Change Hub will showcase the best of local mental health and wellbeing provision at its first World Mental Health Day Celebrations.

The event at the Spanish Hall, Winter Gardens, on Tuesday October 10 and will bring together more than 20 organisations from across Lancashire with the shared vision of ending mental health discrimination.

It is part of the national Time to Change campaign, England’s biggest mental health anti-stigma campaign.

A wide range of organisations have pledged support, and will be present on the day, including from local government, education, business and community groups.

The event is free to attend and will be open from 11am until 4pm.

There will also be live music, dancing, people sharing their stories and experiences, films, workshops and presentations.

The Time to Change Hub is funded by Blackpool Council as part of its support of leading mental health charity Lancashire Mind.

Jane Grantham, from community development, Lancashire Mind, said: “The aim of the Time to Change Hub is to involve organisations, workplaces and schools who can network and work together to deliver initiatives that will help end mental health discrimination in their communities.

The World Mental Health Day celebrations are going to play a huge part in helping us to achieve this.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of organisations which have requested to be involved. This clearly reflects the value the Blackpool community places on wellbeing.
