THE sun is shining and visitors are flooding in as Blackpool looks forward to a bumper Easter weekend.
Families are already packing onto the Promenade to enjoy soaring temperatures and many fun activities are up for grabs in the resort.
Blackpool’s brand new Madame Tussauds will open its doors to the public today offering holiday makers the chance to rub waxy shoulders with the stars.
The new attraction is the first outside London and famous faces like Susan Boyle, Gok Wan and many sporting stars can be found inside.
St John’s Square has also got an enormous Big Wheel towering above it giving visitors the chance to view the resort from the rooftops.
And hoteliers say the outlook for the weekend is good despite the threat of thundery showers on Saturday. Kim Morgan from the Charlton Hotel on South Promenade said: “We’ve been run off our feet, the sun has brought so many door knockers into Blackpool.
“We are full and our restaurant is full and we are looking forward to a really busy weekend.”
Dancers can also enjoy a taste of salsa as Noches de Salsa will be showing off their twirls at Stanley Park bandstand on Easter Monday 1pm.
Those wanting to run off Easter egg calories need look no further than the Fleetwood 10 Mile Road Race.
The race will take place on Easter Sunday with runners asked to meet at 10am at Fleetwood YMCA on Lord Street. Families can meet the Easter bunny at Farmer Parrs Animal World in Fleetwood where there will be Easter fun including egg hunting, as well as chicks and bunnies daily.
For those who want to enjoy a more smooth and musical Easter, the North Euston Hotel on Fleetwood Esplanade is holding a weekend of jazz with local acts playing nightly.
