RNLI volunteers manning the resort's two lifeboats scoured the water between Central Pier and the mirrorball in South Shore, while Coastguard rescuers and police officers searched the Promenade at around 1.30am.

"After an extensive search, the casualty was found safe and well elsewhere," the RNLI said.
