Rescue teams hunt for missing person in Heysham

A search by Morecambe Coastguard and Knott-End Coastguard Rescue Team was carried out along the shore between St Patrick’s and the North Wall by Heysham Port.

Meanwhile Morecambe Lifeboat searched the waters along the Barrows.

The teams had been called in to assist Lancashire Police at around 11pm.

The person was found at around midnight by the police back in Morecambe safe and sound and the coastguard rescue team stood down.

A spokesman for the coastgaurd said: “The woman was located by police inland and was absolutely fine.”
