A man became jealous when his ex-boyfriend brought another man back to his flat.

Daniel Timothy lost his temper and threw his ex’s phone on the floor snapping it in two.

Timothy, a 23-year-old account representative, of Brackenbury Road, Preston, pleaded guilty to damaging an iPhone 5.

He was sentenced to a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £500 compensation, a £150 court charge, £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said a man complained to police he had found his mobile broken at his home in Blackpool after Timothy had visited on August 7.

When questioned, Timothy said he had been in a relationship with the complainant.

He had gone out with his ex and a flatmate, but said the complainant ignored him.

Timothy became annoyed when the complainant came back with another man and ignored him again.

He then threw his ex’s phone and it broke.

Hugh Pond, defending, said his client had no previous convictions.

Mr Pond added: “He says that since this incident he has been the victim of revenge porn crime which has been put on the internet.”
