'˜Remorseless' rapist jailed for 25 years

Kerring Sambou, 39, plied his two victims with drink and drugs before raping them in violent and insidious attacks.

One of his victims tried to flee his flat and cry for help but was dragged back up the stairs and raped by Sambou.

His other victim was unable to defend herself as she was unconscious in a B&B in Yorkshire.

Jailing him at Preston Crown Court, Judge Heather Lloyd said: “On each occasion you purposely bided your time to ensure your victim, as she ended up being, was much more intoxicated than you or much less able to resist you than she had otherwise been.

“You then penetrated your victim when she was unable to prevent it or effectively resist, by overpowering her.”

Sambou met his first victim while she was on a night out in Blackpool and arranged to meet her again in Huddersfield.

But after a night drinking and dancing in Yorkshire, Sambou raped the woman while she was comatose on the bed in his hotel room.

Judge Lloyd said: “She had he trauma of having to be tested for HIV and the trauma of not actually knowing what had been done to her.”

While police investigated the attack in Huddersfield, Sambou was bailed to his home in Park Road, Blackpool, where he committed the second rape.

The court heard he spotted his victim swigging from a bottle on the seafront and invited her home to drink and smoke cannabis.

The traumatised woman was later found by police in the street outside Sambou’s flat. She was half naked and missing a boot, which was found in Sambou’s home.

She had tried to flee the flat earlier but Sambou had dragged her up the stairs and raped her in a bedroom.

In a victim statement the woman said she has lost two stones in weight, her hair has fallen out and she is suffering from PTSD as a result of the attack.

She has also moved from her home as she fears Sambou will know where she lives.

Judge Lloyd said: “There are two types of rape here - a violent rape and an insidious rape.

“You have show no remorse or insight.

“You have a very warped view of sex and consent.”

“To rape a woman is one of the worst violations that a man can inflict on the body and mind of a woman.

“You raped two women. I take the view in many respects you are predatory.

“The promenade in Blackpool seems to have been your favoured ground for seeking out women.

“You are apparently a married man with children whose wife knows nothing about your convictions.

“We are not here to deal with a question of morals but it may indicate your attitude to women in general.”

She handed him an extended sentence with a 22 year custodial element and three years extended licence.
