Blackpool Council has urged fans of the annual Ride the Lights event on the Promenade to sign up for updates '“ and has teamed up with a leading toy shop to offer an incentive worth £200.

Plans are already said to be underway for this year’s extravaganza, which will see the Prom closed to the traffic as thousands of people bike up and down on Tuesday, August 29, and those who register their details will be entered into a draw to win a £200 voucher to spend at Smyths Toys in Marton.

Coun Gillian Campbell, deputy leader at the town hall, said: “Ride the Lights is always extremely popular, every year more visitors flock to the resort to take part in this annual event.

“By encouraging people to register for the event, we can keep riders up-to-date with our plans for the 2017 event and if that’s not a good enough reason to register, you could be in with a chance of winning this fantastic family prize.”
