Regeneration on awards shortlist

A £50m housing scheme to transform a rundown area in the heart of Blackpool is in the running for a top award.

The Foxhall Village, which has seen failing guesthouses demolished and industrial land cleared to make way for family homes, has been shortlisted in the regeneration category at the annnual North West awards of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Also nominated in the same category is Jubilee House, the derelict former home of the Land Registry but now the headquarters of Danbro Accounting.

It now boasts a coffee shop, gym, large canteen, as well as a range of high-spec office and meeting spaces. The company currently employ 200 staff but now hopes to expand and potentially create up to 500 jobs.

They will battle it out with projects including the DIY SOS Veterans Village in Manchester for the accolade at the awards ceremony which will be held at The Titanic, Liverpool, on April 22.

Foxhall Village, being built by Hollinwood Homes which is part of the Marcus Worthington Group, will see 410 new homes built in total on the 19-acre site between Central Drive, Rigby Road and Tyldesley Road.

Roads are named after Blackpool Football Club’s 1953 FA Cup winning team.

“We are creating a brand new community on formerly industrial land which had fallen into disuse, regenerating the area and providing people with high quality, affordable housing and a place they can be proud to call home.”
