Hannah Savage, 26, of Bank Lane, Warton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £190 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge, plus £20 victims’ surcharge, by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the incident happened on May 8 at 5.33am. Savage was stopped and a breath test showed 47 micrograms of alcohol in her body – 35 is the limit.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said Savage had been out with friends and fallen asleep at a friend’s home. She woke about 5am and felt fine to drive. The loss of her licence would have serious repercussions, as she worked at a hotel in St Annes and she had a disabled sister living with her.
