A drunken visitor was seen fighting with four men on Blackpool’s Golden Mile.

Douglas Benton, 26, of Westbank Close, Keighley, Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and failing to answer bail.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police were told a man was fighting with four others near the Manchester pub on August 1 about 12.20am.

Officers saw Benton in the road. He was told to calm down, but continued being aggressive and was arrested.

Tony Slater, defending, said Benton had been drinking all day and then someone had hit him. He admitted when the police turned up he was aggressive to them. He had failed to come to court on because he had a doctor’s appointment. Benton had been on prison licence at the time of the offence and was now being recalled to jail for 28 days. He was fined £70 with £50 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
