Rebecca saw off the competition at the glittering grand final of the annual beauty pageant, which took place at The Sands Venue, Blackpool, to take her crown.

The aim of the Miss Fylde Coast contest is to show beauty is more than skin deep, with a big focus on charity work, confidence, fun and friendship.

Rebecca, 24 – who works in a stockbrokers as a foreign ambassador – said she was shocked when the judges announced she was the winner.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it. This was my fifth year taking part in the competition, so I really didn’t expect to win.

“But I had been determined not to give up and to keep trying, and I think that perhaps impressed the judges.”

Miss Fylde Coast is the north west heat of Miss England, so Rebecca will now compete in the national contest. The semi-final takes place in July, in Nottingham.

Rebecca, whose hobbies include reading and spending time with family and friends, said: “It was a big relief, really, to know my hard work had finally paid off.

“I really enjoyed the whole night of the final.

“Now I’m going to focus on the semi-final of Miss England and planning fund-raising events for the charity, Beauty With A Purpose.

“I’ll be doing back-packing and am hoping to organise an event with some of the other girls.

“I’m just pleased and proud to be able to represent the Fylde Coast.”

For the sportswear round, Rebecca jogged down the catwalk.

For the partywear section, she showed off her hourglass figure with a black pencil dress and for the evening wear round, went for an elegant red dress.

Her eco-dress was a fancy dress costume, from the Little Mermaid, recycled, from a friend’s party.

She is hoping to carry on with her fund-raising, as well as making public appearances and helping at local events over the course of the next year.

Rebecca is hoping local people will get behind her in the Miss England semi-finals. To vote for Rebecca, text MISS SEMI60 to 63333.
