Rebecca's gazebo entices crowds for first fund-raiser

Charity fund-raiser Rebecca Hall brought her work home with her when she organised a stall at Tram Sunday for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

She set up two gazebos in the grounds of St Peter’s Church, where her father Rev John Hall is vicar, and netted a tidy £186.Rebecca, who is 27, was appointed Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s Wyre and Fylde fund-raiser co-ordinator last autumn. It is a role she has made her own by using local events such as Tram Sunday at which Rosemere has never before had a presence, to raise awareness of the charity’s work and garner support.

Rebecca, who studied psychology at Exeter University before going on to the University of Central Lancashire where she obtained a masters degree in forensic psychology followed by a PG Cert in Primary Care Mental Health, said: “A bit of local knowledge goes a long way.“Tram Sunday is a fab day and I think we were able to add to the fun. We’ll definitely be back next year.”Canon Hall is vicar of the parish of St Peter’s and St David’s and welcomed his middle daughter’s charitable efforts. Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer services and treatments to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, the region’s specialist cancer treatment centre at the Royal Preston Hospital and at other hospitals including Blackpool Victoria.It funds vital equipment, research and training plus other cancer services. In June, it announced it had managed to reach its £1.5m 20 Years Anniversary Appeal target.The appeal was launched at the end of March 2017 to celebrate Rosemere Cancer Centre’s 20th birthday by funding a trio of ground-breaking projects.
