A BLACKPOOL councillor who was arrested on suspicion of theft has been rebailed.

Coun Julian Mineur was arrested on December 22 last year by detectives at the Supporting Our Brave shop on Bank Hey Street.

He was bailed until March 16, and has now been re-bailed while the investigation continues.

Coun Mineur, who has vowed to clear his name, said: “I am just carrying on as normal but I would like to get some closure.”

The investigation was launched by police and Trading Standards after concerns were raised over where cash given to the shop – when it traded as Shop For Heroes – totalling £30,000, was going.

In recent weeks a number of donations have been made to various charities and good causes which support the armed forces.

Coun Mineur, who has also been suspended by the Conservative group on Blackpool Council pending the outcome of the investigation, is project manager of the shop.

He has repeatedly denied the allegations.
