The event, organised by the Friends of Garstang Walking Festival and supported by Wyre Council, takes place from Saturday May 6 until Sunday May 14.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Foreshore to Fells’ and walkers will be able to explore the countryside around Garstang, the Forest of Bowland and the Fylde plain.

Highlights include the dog friendly ramble, on Tuesday 9 May, with the chance to join a countryside ranger for a ramble over Nicky Nook through Grizedale and back to Scorton in time for lunch.

For those interested in something more challenging, there is the Knott to Tot Three Day Challenge, a series of three 14 to 16-mile walks exploring Wyre from the seashore to the Bowland Fells.

A Wyre Council spokesman said: “With almost 50 walks to choose from, you’ll be sure to find the right walk for you. Visit wyre.gov.uk/garstangwalkingfestival to browse the programme of events.”

Participants are asked to bring walking boots, stout footwear, all weather clothing, a packed lunch – if appropriate – and a drink. To book, call 01995 602125 or email [email protected]
