Pupils from Stanley Primary School are clued up when it comes to riding their bikes safely.

The youngsters designed posters featuring safety messages as part of a competition run by the Stanley Park and Marton neighbourhood police team and the council’s road safety team.

Winners Rebecca Joyce, Ethan Li, Jessica Halliwell and Bethany Thackeray all received cycle helmets and goodie bags, donated by Sam Taylor’s Cycles, Tesco and the road safety team.

PCSO Andy Machin, Stanley Park neighbourhood police team, said: “At this time of year it is likely that lots of children will be getting bicycles and scooters as presents and it is important that parents also buy them the necessary safety equipment. Cycle helmets save lives and bright clothing can help you be safe and be seen.”
