£1m road safety pot to improve highways
County Coun John Fillis, cabinet member for highways and transport, has agreed the package to help cut deaths and serious injuries at accident hotspots around the county and reduce speeds at sites of concern.
Electronic signs costing up to £24,000 will be installed in Wyre near speeding hotspots, while cash will be spent in Fylde to highlight hazards with signs and road markings.

County Coun Fillis said: “We’ve carried out very careful research to make sure every penny of the £1m we’ll be spending on new measures over the next two years makes a real difference to preventing accidents and improving people’s lives where speeding is an ongoing problem.”
