Prolific thief tried to bite arresting police officer

A thief with 77 offences on his record pushed one police officer and tried to bite another when he was caught acting suspiciously in a driveway in Blackpool.

Paul Speck was so aggressive when officers tried to arrest him that he had to be pepper-sprayed.

The 41-year-old father-of-two of Camden Road, Layton, pleaded guilty to theft from a car, attempted theft from another car, interfering with two vehicles and resisting police.

He was sentenced to 17 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Speck was spotted on February 13 outside a house on North Park Drive. Keys and other property he had taken from another vehicle were found on him. Speck, had only been released from prison on January 22 and was on licence.
