FLEETWOOD Nautical Campus got the royal seal of approval on Tuesday with a visit from the Princess Royal to mark the completion of £8.2m of improvements.
After a helicopter landing, the Princess got in insight into the work of the college including visits to two state-of-the-art simulators.
The bridge simulator allows students to guide ships across the globe and the engine-room simulator provides real-life engineering problems to be solved.
In a two-hour visit the princess also saws a demonstration of under-water escape techniques.
Campus head John Matthews said: “She is a very impressive lady - it was a huge success.”
