A POPULAR manager who served The Gazette for more than 30 years during a distinguished career has died, aged 69.
Derek Vintner, of Wren Close, Carleton, joined the company in 1966 as an advertising representative and rose through the department to the position of display manger before taking early retirement in 1996.
He died at Trinity Hospice in Bispham following a long illness.
His daughter Jodie Talarczyk said: “He was always a colourful character and very popular.
“He loved working at The Gazette and met some fabulous people. He lived for his job because it meant so much to him.”
Mr Vintner was a keen golfer and had been due to marshall at The Open championship last week.
