Popular coffee morning raises Â£475 for good cause

Around 100 people attended a coffee morning, organised by the Lytham St Annes Men’s Forum, at the White Church, in Fairhaven, in aid of Parkinsons UK.

There were cakes on sale, along with a raffle, bric-a-brac and auction.

Parkinsons UK was this year’s chosen charity, selected by president Mike Fenton.

Last year, he ran the Great North Run to raise money – in memory of his dad John, who died in 2013, and had Parkinson’s. His mother-in-law Jean Warner, of Coventry, was also diagnosed with the condition.

Barry Hughes, secretary of the LSA Men’s Forum, said the coffee morning had been enjoyed by all.

“The coffee morning was well supported by members of the public, the church and of course, members of the forum. The Mayor of Fylde, Coun Peter Hardy, really threw himself into it.

“Credit must be given to the ladies from the White Church, who did such a great job with the tea and coffee and room arrangement.

“People enjoyed it very much.”
