Eighties pop stars are set to wow the crowds on the Prom for Blackpool’s Switch-On weekend.
And comedian Al Murray, The Pub Landlord, will preside over the events as comedy comes to the Comedy Carpet for the first time.
The new-look Illuminations’ launch weekend will take place from Friday to Sunday, September 4 to 6 on the Tower Festival Headland, with tickets on sale at 10am Monday.
Blackpool iFest’s Saturday night show will feature a line-up of chart-toppers headlined by Bananarama, with Jason Donovan, Paul Young, Limahl, Owen Paul and T’Pau hosted by ex-Fun House presenter Pat Sharp, all in association with Vintage TV.
And the weekend’s celebrations will close with Al Murray hosting and headlining, alongside stand-up stars Chris Ramsey, Alun Cochrane, Tiff Stevenson, Carl Hutchinson and Craig Campbell.
The first 5,000 people to snap up a £30 weekend ticket for Saturday and Sunday’s shows will also get a Friday night Switch-On party wristband, with artists for the big night yet to be confirmed.

Alan Cavill, Blackpool Council’s director of place, said: “We’ve put together a fantastic line-up of for Blackpool iFest. The Saturday night will be a tremendous evening of light-hearted fun and vintage pop.
“The Sunday night is truly ground-breaking with comedy coming to the Tower Festival Headland and the Comedy Carpet for the first time ever.
“We’ve also still got the Friday night Switch-On line-up yet to confirm, which is set to be absolutely fantastic.

Last year’s Switch-On was carried out by top comedian Peter Kay, with music from chart-toppers Little Mix, Pixie Lott, George Ezra and Union J.
Registration is open for the ballot for tickets to the Friday night Switch-On online at www.visitblackpool.com/switchon, with a chance to win up to four tickets per household.
A total of 8,000 wristbands will be for residents with an FY postcode, an increase of 2,000 on last year.
