A pub pool team member got upset after he was banned for bad behaviour.

Thomas Gildea punched a team colleague in the side of the face during an argument.

Gildea, 34, unemployed, of Durham Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was fined £35 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge and ordered to pay £50 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said on February 3, Gildea was at The Hop Inn, King Street, where he was a member of the pool team.

He was angry because he had been banned from four pool sessions due to previous bad behaviour.

Another team member told him if he was not happy he could leave the pool league and Gildea punched him in the side of the face.

Hugh Pond, defending, said his client was also hit during the exchange.
