CRAIG Cathcart is out of the Birmingham play-off game after a heart scare.
The defender was pencilled in to play for the Seasiders in a Lancashire Senior Cup tie against Manchester United yesterday.
But he suffered palpitations in training before the match and had to pull out.
The 23-year-old, who became a father earlier in the year, was seen by a medic who found his heart was larger than it should be.
“They don’t think that’s a problem, and they are still letting him train,” said boss Ian Holloway.
“But they have to find out why he is having those palpitations.
“Hopefully it will be nothing serious but you cannot take any chances, especially after what happened to Fabrice Muamba - that was horrific.”
Cathcart’s heart-rate will be monitored over the next 48 hours to check there are no further problems.
