Tributes to former deputy mayor

The funeral of Fylde’s former deputy mayoress will take place today.

Tributes have been paid to Coun Kath Harper,71, who died last Saturday after a short illness.

Coun Harper, who represented St John’s ward, in Lytham, was originally from Nelson and moved to Fylde after nurse-training in Manchester and midwifery training in Blackpool.

She worked until retirement at Lytham Hospital.

She leaves two sons, Tim and Stephen, as well as husband Colin.

Coun Linda Nulty, Fylde’s mayor, said: “All our thoughts are with Kath’s family at this time.

“Kath was a great servant to Fylde and the residents of St John’s ward and she continued to plan her council work on other people’s behalf until the end.”

Her funeral takes place toady from 11.30am at St John the Devine, on East Beach, Lytham.

This will be followed by a private cremation.
