Powers approved to enable massive Blackpool leisure investment
The council’s executive agreed a recommendation to use the powers if necessary because additional land is required for highways work at the 17 acre site.
Coun Mark Smith, cabinet member for business, enterprise and job creation, said: “We want to move forward on this £300m development for the future of Blackpool and the creation of jobs for Blackpool.”

Hide AdIn January this year the council agreed to lease the land for 250 years to Nikal Ltd and Media Invest Entertainment, who are behind the hi-tech Chariot of the Gods themed flying theatre attraction.
The nine-year scheme is set to transform the former Central Station site close to the Promenade in a series of four phases which will create around 1,000 jobs and aims to attract 600,000 new visitors to the resort.
The additional parcels of land needed are not expected to be revealed until the middle of August, but consultation has taken place with the owners of the properties that may be affected.
The council is already in possession of the majority of the site required for the Central Station development including the old Bonny Street police station.
