Plans approved for Over Wyre children's home

Plans for a children's home for four young people in Preesall have been approved by Wyre Council.

Childcare provider Sandcastle Care will house four vulnerable young people at a property in Park Lane, Preesall.

"No more than two carers" will also stay in the five-bedroom detached house overnight, documents showed.

The care company said: "Children with particular problems such as severe behavioural problems would actually not be suitable for this proposed home, and they would come under a different regime.

"The home proposed is not a secure home. Children would play out, or leave the home, in the same way as they would in a family.

"There would be a proper level of supervision because there will always be members of staff on site."

Documents also showed that parish councillors at Preesall Town Council did not hold a meeting to discuss the application, however they were made aware of it.

Concerns had been raised by some of them about "the possible impact of parking and different shift patterns on residents in such a small crescent," but there were no specific objections to the application.
