The alcohol-related PSPO, which is implemented under requirements of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014, will be discussed at a Wyre Council cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 17.

The council also intends to renew the PSPO for another three years, after "seeking public opinion as to whether the Order should be renewed and varied."

It aims to extend the boundaries of the PSPO to include the whole of Thornton, Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Poulton - with an added extension into Garstang.

The order will ensure nobody will be permitted to drink alcohol in a public place within the restricted areas, and must hand over suspected alcohol in sealed or unsealed containers to police or "authorised persons."

Failure to comply with the PSPO can result in a fixed penalty notice of up to £100.

A spokesman for Wyre Council said: "In accordance with the requirements of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014, the council recently undertook a review of its Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for Alcohol Related Anti-Social Behaviour, seeking public opinion as to whether the Order should be renewed and varied.

"Having regard to the findings of that consultation exercise, the council now intends to renew the Order for a further 3 years, extend the boundaries of the Order to encompass the entire districts of Fleetwood, Thornton-Cleveleys, and Poulton-le-Fylde (up to the borough boundaries), and extend the boundaries of the Order to include the wider urban areas of Garstang."

Members of the public can take part in Wyre Council's survey here, until Sunday January 10.
