Lancashire County Council is holding the consultation over the proposals, which include an increase in contributions parents make towards transport to faith schools, a rise in bus fares, a reduced number qualifying for free transport and reviewing taxi provision.

The Town hall currently spends £8.5m on home to school transport, around a half of which is in addition to legal requirements.

County Coun Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for schools, said: “We must look at all of our spending, especially on services we have no legal requirement to provide.”

The consultation runs until November 29 to have your say call 01772 531878.
