Police search for witnesses after Thornton man dies in motorbike crash in Cockerham

A Thornton man has died after a motorbike crash in Cockerham yesterday.

The incident happened at 4pm yesterday on the A588 at Cockerham when a Suzuki motorcycle left the road and came to rest in a field.

The rider, a 55-year-old man from Thornton, died at the scene.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Sgt Paul Maguire, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Tac Ops, said: “Very sadly this incident has resulted in a man losing his life and I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to come forward and contact us.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this time.

"Anyone with information ca contact police on 101 quoting log number 1144 of May 30."
