Police in reassurance over youths issue

Police in Fleetwood say plans are being made to help deal with the on-going problems of youths causing trouble as they congregate around the Marine Hall gardens.

Residents raised the issue again when Fleetwood Police staged a question and answer session with residents, using the force’s Facebook page.

People who have been using the seafront chalets in the town said gangs of youths were running amok.

Nick Palmer asked: “How are you going to address the youths that take over The Marine Hall every evening?

“I have a chalet, we are constantly harassed by drunk youths, swearing, drinking, smashing glass and urinating where ever they like.”

He was told: “There is currently a lot of work going on behind the scenes with partner agencies and youth offending team.

“We are engaging the youths into other activities.

“You must ring 101 when this is actually happening as this helps us build up a bigger picture, but you will start to notice some changes around the Marine Hall.“

And Kevin Southern said: “The police drove past the other night and did nothing at all, dozens of them jumping on the roofs and throwing bottles onto the marine gardens.

“I saw this with my own eyes.”

The police replied: “Our patrols are often on route to other jobs and may not be able to stop. Please always phone 101 or 999 if you see a crime being committed.”
