Police to investigate suspected arson after van catches fire in Cleveleys

Police are investigating a suspected arson after a van caught fire in Cleveleys in the early hours of this morning (April 16).

The van was found well-alight in Beach Avenue, near the junction with Manor Drive, at around 1am.

Some residents said they were woken by two 'loud bangs' before finding the van engulfed in flames in the street.

According to one neighbour, one of the 'explosions' sent debris flying into nearby gardens.

Fire crews from Fleetwood were deployed and brought the fire under control within an hour.

The fire service said it had reported the suspicious fire to police and a joint investigation will be carried out.

A fire service spokesman said: "One fire engine from Fleetwood was called to the fire in Manor Drive.

"Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

"A joint police and fire investigation is underway.

"Crews were at the scene for just over 45 minutes."
