A wanted sex offender has been spotted in Blackpool, police have said.

Jason George Gleave, 33, also known as Jason Cunliffe, is wanted for breaching his bail conditions.

Following an appeal last month, police say there have been possible sightings of the 33-year-old in Blackpool.

They have so far been unconfirmed but officers are urging residents to be on the look-out for him.

Gleave, who lives in Blackburn but has links to the Fylde coast, was convicted in July 2013 for assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Police say he took her without lawful authority before sexually assaulting her.

His licence has now been revoked and Gleave has been placed on Lancashire Police’s wanted list.

Officers say the decision was made after he failed to attend his bail address and did not inform officers of his new address.

Det Con Yusuf Lorgat, of the East Dangerous and Sexual Offenders Unit, said: “We take any breach of notification requirements very seriously and I would urge anyone with information on where Gleave might be to contact us.

“Since our last appeal in May there have been possible sightings of Gleave in Blackpool but we also know that he has links to Chorley as well as areas in Greater Manchester including Atherton, Wigan and Bolton.”

Anyone who believes they have seen Gleave is asked to contact police.

Det Con Lorgat added: “I would also urge Jason himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to the police.”

Anyone with information about Gleave’s whereabouts should contact police on 101 so details can be passed to the DASO (Dangerous and Sexual Offenders) Unit at East.
