Police car crashes into garden wall in Blackpool

A police car has smashed into a garden wall after it was involved in a crash with another car in Blackpool last night (Monday, August 31).

The accident happened at around 6pm in Waterloo Road, near the junction with Lyndhurst Avenue, when the police car first collided with a Volkswagen before mounting the pavement and hitting a brick wall.

Officers closed the road for around two hours, between Aylesbury Avenue to Winchester Avenue, whilst emergency services treated an officer and two women in the Volkswagen.

A police spokesman said: "Around 6pm yesterday (Monday, August 31) a police car and a black Volkswagen car were involved in a collision in Waterloo Road, Blackpool.

"The police car then collided with a garden wall.

"The driver of the police car was treated for shock with two women, the driver of the Volkswagen and a passenger, treated for bruising and shock.

"Both vehicles were recovered and the road re-opened around 11pm."

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance came across this incident at 6.02pm. Three patients were treated at scene but nobody was taken to hospital as they had minor injuries."
