It is now set to become a sports and live music bar and could open as early as Easter.

A Pleasure Beach spokesman said: “We are delighted to be reopening The Star for the 2016 season.

“It has been part of Blackpool Pleasure Beach for many years so it’s fitting that we are reopening it during our 120th year.

“Over the years, many rising stars have played early gigs at The Star, including Jonathan Wilkes and [ former Liberty X singer] Kevin Simm, and we hope this continues with our line up of live entertainment.

“The Star isn’t just about live music though, it will be a great place for residents and visitors to relax in a friendly atmosphere and enjoy sporting fixtures on our big screens.”

Workmen have been carrying out refurbishment work at the pub, on South Promenade.

Pool tables have been installed, as has a beer pong table, the park said.

Sky Sports will be screened while the pub will also host DJs.

The Apple and Parrot opened in July 2014 and sold a selection of ciders, ales, and spirits.

As part of its opening weekend, the pub hosted local musician Kurtis Reid and The Sensations and The Rupert Fabulous band, as well as several support acts.
