Touring production Chip Shop Chips by Becky Prestwich will be staged at the Hewitt Lecture Room in Bannister Street, just behind Lytham Library.

The play is set in a fish and chip restaurant and Lowther general manager Roger McCann said the producers ideally wanted it to take place in a fish and chip shop because the audience are given a fish and chip supper as part of the evening.

The Hewitt Room, across the road from Whelan’s Fish Restaurant, the first business to donated to the Love Lowther renovation appeal, was settled on as an ideal venue.

Roger said: “When I was approached about the show I was really keen to stage it and approached Whelan’s to partner with us because they were the first business to come forward and support our Love Lowther fund-raising campaign.

“Unfortunately, the space in the restaurant wasn’t suitable but the Hewitt is just across the road so that seemed the perfect solution.

“Tom and Johanna McCreedy of Whelan’s shared my enthusiasm for the project and immediately came on board.

“They will be supplying the suppers which will be served in the Hewitt as part of the performance.

“I’m really delighted to be working with them and cementing our relationship.
