A major homes development could be built on land close to a Fylde town after plans for 290 properties were submitted.
Morris Homes has applied to Fylde Council to build 291 homes on land west of the Kirkham bypass, opposite St George’s Park.

The application for the land, known as the Kirkham triangle, follows applications by two other developers for land south of the site.
If full planning permission is given, more than 500 homes could be built on the land between Blackpool Road and the A585 across the three sites.
Kirkham councillor Peter Hardy said developers have pushed to build on the land for many years – adding Fylde is suffering from not having a five-year supply of housing, which helps to control the number of properties built.
He added: “It is the same in places like Warton and Wesham. The big issue is the five-year supply of housing.
“Every council up and down the land has a quota they have to build. Services can’t take the influx homes.
“A developer has started near Kirkham Grammar School’s rugby pitches and now they want to build opposite St George’s Park. I am sure homes will be near the new AFC Fylde stadium in Wesham soon.
“Infrastructure can’t cope with that. With all those new properties we will need new schools and surgeries.
“It is a right mess at the moment.”
Access to the site will be from the roundabout close to The Kingfisher Pub, with 87 of the properties classed as affordable housing.
In a planning statement by Hourigan Connolly, on behalf of Morris Homes, it said the site is sustainable and could be developed without adverse impacts on highways and environment as well as provide jobs in the area.
It read: “The development proposals would make a positive contribution to the council’s ongoing need to provide a continuing supply of housing, thereby achieving this objective.”
Fylde Council planners will review the application in the coming months.
