Dominos is taking over the Paul Gaunt shop in Squires Gate Lane and is set to create 25 jobs in the area.

An application had been made last year to turn the building into a nursery, but planning permission was rejected due to fears over traffic problems in the area and worries about noise disturbing residents.

It would have catered for 70 children and created 21 jobs but was turned down by the planning committee despite no objections having been made.

Mr Gaunt closed the shop in May 2015 after 15 years in business.

Now the building is set to become a takeaway.

Abbey Everett, spokesman for Domino’s Pizza Group, said: “Domino’s is always looking for great new locations for our stores, and we’re really excited to have found such good premises right in the heart of Blackpool community.

“We hope to open our doors before spring, and will be looking to recruit from within the area, with 25 new jobs available for pizza-passionate locals.”

Dominos was founded in Michigan in 1960 and now has outlets in 82 countries. The first UK store opened in 1985.
