The 139 Church Street Community Pub Limited said it is looking to raise £250,000 by Tuesday, April 11, and is offering people the chance to invest between £100 for one share, and £20,000 for 200 shares.

Members would be eligible for election onto the board, which features Gareth Wright, Rob Hill, Graham Moore, Iain Brownbridge, and David Moore, and would be given their money back should the bid to buy the pub fall through. If it opens and later fails, the building would be sold and investors reimbursed based on the price it goes for, the society added.

The popular venue, the birthplace of Blackpool FC, has been closed since 2015 and is listed as an Asset of Community Value.

If enough money is raised, the pub could be reopen by May.
