The multi-screen cinema, on North Promenade, will open its doors to the public on Wednesday August 26, with a number of new safety rules in place to combat the risk of the virus.

These include staggered screening times to make it easier to social distance and customers being encouraged to book online.

Sarah Hitchen, general manager at Vue Cleveleys, said: “We’re really pleased to be preparing to reopen our cinema once again and we look forward to welcoming film fans back soon.

“We’ve been working hard to ensure our site meets safety protocols in line with the latest government guidance.”

The venue will open on time for screenings of hotly anticipated sci-fi action blockbuster,Tenet, directed by Christopher Nolan with a cast including lead John David Washington and household names such as Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

Washington plays The Protagonist, on a mission to save the world via a twilight journey through international espionage and "time inversion".

Favourites such as the Harry Potter series, La La Land and cinema classics such as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back will also be shown on forthcoming dates.

The Vue says online booking is encouraged to make visits as contactless as possible. Tickets can be accessed on smartphones and will be scanned before entering the screen, allowing customers to skip the queue.

There will be enhanced cleaning protocols which includes disinfecting every screen between each film showings and hand sanitiser stations available throughout venues.

Physical distancing meeting government guidelines has been built into the booking system so that customers in one booking are automatically seated apart from others.

Sarah added: “We want film-lovers to know that the quality of our viewing experience remains unchanged."
