A fitness instructor from Thornton is making the most of her time away from the studio during the coronavirus pandemic, by hosting 'dancing on your doorstep' every Sunday for her neighbours.

Julie Foster is a Pilates, Zumba and aqua-aerobics instructor at YMCA's Poulton and Fleetwood studies, and also holds classes at Gym Etc on Garstang Road East, Poulton.

After the closure of gyms and fitness centres due to the coronavirus lockdown implemented by the Government, she decided to continue doing the work she loved outside her house, bringing some much-needed cheer to her neighbourhood.

Now every Sunday, she leaves her house on Ridgeway Drive, Little Thornton, to lead 'dancing on your doorstep' classes on neighbouring Tarnway Avenue.

Julie said: "It lightens up the faces of everyone who takes part, it brings some happiness and fun to this awful situation.

"I've been a fitness instructor for over 15 years and now that my classes can't continue this is what I'll be doing every Sunday.

"It's loads of fun and everyone has been getting involved. I think other streets should start their own up, to bring people together."

Julie's Zumba-like sessions on the street are choreographed to motivational songs to lift residents' spirits, including S Club 7's 'Reach' and Kelly Clarkson's 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.'
