The sister of a Blackpool chef who died after hanging himself in his bathroom today paid tribute to her “loving” brother.
Shane Moore, 25, of Norbreck Road, Cleveleys, was found in the bathroom at his home by his sister, Devika Moore, after a night out in October, an inquest was told.
Mr Moore, originally from Londonderry in Northern Ireland, had suffered from depression and had tried to take his life in the past, Blackpool Coroner’s Court heard.
Today Miss Moore paid tribute to her “outgoing” brother.
She added: “He was a bubbly person. He had lots of friends. He was always outgo-ing and had a smile on his face.
“I was very close to him and loved him dearly. It was so sad the way he died.”
The court was told Mr Moore had gone on a night out in Blackpool with his sister on October 25 last year.
They met a friend, Kevin Bevington, and went to several bars before coming home around 4am.
Miss Moore went to bed and Mr Bevington slept on the sofa.
Miss Moore woke up in the morning around 11am and could hear the tap running in the bathroom of the property,
She went inside the room and found Mr Moore’s body, which she said was “cold to the touch.”
Miss Moore revealed Mr Moore had tried to hang himself two years ago, but she stopped him.
When she asked him why he did it, he said he “wanted to try it to see how it felt”.
She suggested her brother, who suffered from epilepsy, could have been experimenting again when he died and suffered an epileptic fit.
But a pathologist said this was unlikely, with death likely to have happened in seconds.
Recording the verdict as misadventure, assistant coroner Claire Doherty said: “As reported to me the facts sug-gested Shane may have tried to take his own life. In criminal law suicide needs a standard of proof beyond reasonable doubt.
“Looking at evidence, Shane left no note, text messages or emails.
“It would also seem he had done this act while deciding to run a bath. It points to an impulsive act. I have asked if he had tried this before. He had,
but just wanted to try it, rather than kill himself.
“Summing up Shane embarked on a deliberate course of action which proved fatal and may not have been intentional. The verdict is misadventure.”
