The competition is the UK’s longest running seaside beauty pageant and is now seeking entries for the 2018 event.

Girls and women aged between 17 and 30, on July 29, can enter the contest by sending in a photograph of themselves and their details to organisers, Angels Elite Models, before the closing date of July 1.

There is no entry fee, the competition is free to enter and contestants do not have to make public appearances to gain points.

Those who make it through the grand final will take part in a catwalk show at the Paradise Room, at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, on Sunday, July 29.

The prestigious black-tie evening will include a beachwear round (with sarong), T-shirt fashion routine – sponsored by Panache natural flavour infusion, and an evening wear round. Comperes for the night will be Ian Tolley and Miss Blackpool 2011, Hollie Robinson.

There will be reserved seating for VIPs and a two course meal, although guests can also buy tickets for the show only.

Karen Jean Cookson, from Angels Elite, said: “This is a great chance for girls to take part in a catwalk show and can be a fabulous start to modelling. It builds confidence and it’s great fun being with a fabulous team of girls – so many of the girls have made friendships for life from being part of Miss Blackpool.

“All past winners have gone on to model for Angels Elite Models. Contestants have gone on to achieve so much through taking part. At Angels Elite, we are always looking for new faces for future modelling events, it’s a great way for us to meet new models.”

Last year’s Miss Blackpool winner was Shannon Hamill, 22, from Wigan.

It was the third time she had entered the pageant.

She said: “If any girls are thinking of taking part in Miss Blackpool, they should do it. They will really enjoy it, it’s wonderful.

“You make amazing friends and it’s a really good experience.”

Contestants should email photos and details to [email protected].
