Margaret Murray, of Newton-with Scales, was a well-known face at Hays Travel in Kirkham, where she worked for three decades.

A host of flowers and messages in tribute to her have been left outside the agency’s premises in Poulton Street and the funeral cortege will also pass there shortly before 2pm on Thursday, April 23.

Margaret’s funeral, under the rules of limited attendance which apply during the coronavirus pandemic is at Lytham Crematorium and friend Diane Ireland said: “With the current situation we are obviously unable to have a proper funeral but the villagers of Newton are going to line Bryning Lane and applaud her out of the village.

“At Hays Travel, there will be a social distance gathering of people to applaud her and then at Lytham Crematorium, her family are going to line the road up the approach road to applaud her.

“The many floral tributes outside Hays in Kirkham are a testament to Marg and how much people thought of her and how much she will be missed.”

Donations to the charity MIND in Margaret’s memory are invited c/o funeral director Steven R Baxendale.
