Residents are being asked to nominate dog-dirt hotspots for Fylde Council’s dog wardens to patrol.

Ten hotspots are chosen each month in Fylde and earlier this month one offender was handed a £50 Fixed Penalty Notice on Green Drive in Lytham.

Coun Albert Pounder, Fylde Council cabinet member for customer and operational services, said: “In plain view of children and families walking to school, this particular offender allowed her pet to foul and then failed to clear it up.

“We do not want to seem heavy handed but her inaction was anti-social as any of the people walking by could have easily trodden in it.

“We’re asking for members of the public to be our eyes and ears: they can let us know where the problems are and we will assign our wardens 10 problem areas every month.”
