Ralph, a two-year-old French Bulldog went missing in a Poulton field at the end of Little Poulton Lane, behind Ingle's Dawndew Salad, at noon on Halloween (Saturday October 31).

He ran away from one of his owners, Sharon Mather, on one of his regular walks after being spooked by the onset of heavy rain.

Members of the public have been out in droves for nearly a week to look for Ralph, a therapy dog for his other owner, Sharon's partner Sam Matthews, who has multiple sclerosis.

A Facebook page has been set up in a bid to find the dog, which has amassed 3,000 members to date, and a reward has been offered.

Today, police joined the appeal to find him.

A spokesman for Thornton, Cleveleys and Poulton police said: "Ralph's owners are understandably very worried and just want him home.

"While we don't always post about lost dogs, Ralph is a trained therapy dog who provides affection, comfort and support to his owner and we also want to see him returned to his owners."

Earlier this week, owner Sharon Mather thanked the kind-hearted community for all the help they had offered during the search for Ralph.

Sharon said: "We have been completely overwhelmed by the response and the amount of people who have wanted to help us to find Ralph.

"It's been wonderful to see the acts of human kindness, and everyone has been amazing.

"We could never repay everyone for the help they have given to us, it's totally blown us away. We've had our tears and tantrums, but now we just need to ride the storm and hope we get him home soon."
