Mum's site proves a hit

It was when busy Blackpool mum-of-two Jo Irving found it hard to get to the shops or couldn't get online clothing fast enough, she came up with the idea for a new business.

And Jo, of South Shore, is aiming to make her online clothing shop stand out from the rest by offering a personal free delivery service to local people.

Anyone who has an FY postcode can receive their order hand-delivered to their door – at no extra cost.

A postal delivery service is also available.

Jo’s website, Raeloves – named after her 11-month-old daughter Rae – started off with a range of children’s wear and soon expanded to include ladies wear too. It offers playsuits, blazers, dresses, coats, trousers and tops.

She said: “I felt there was a gap in the market really.

“There’s not many boutiques in Blackpool and after having Rae I found it harder to go out shopping and looking at clothes.

“I’ve always been interested in fashion, I love fashion and I wanted to dress Rae in nice things.

“I looked around online at some of the clothing people were stocking and just thought ‘why can’t I do that?’

“There was no real reason why I couldn’t do it.

“I started off on Facebook, doing children’s wear, and as it got bigger, it just grew.

“I try to look for pieces which are a bit different and unique.

“You find most clothing websites takes a couple of days to deliver and most charge extra for delivery.

“There are some who do next day delivery, but often you have to pay out a lot for that.

“I decided I wanted to offer something different for local people and offer free delivery to the door.

“Nine times out of 10 it’s on the same day.

“We’ve all been in that situation where you have a night out or special event planned and you can’t find anything you like in the shops, you see something online, but you know it won’t arrive in time – because you need it for that night.

“With Raeloves, you could see something in the morning on the site, and have it delivered by tea time, so you can wear it that night.

“And it gives that personal touch, so it’s an online business, but still with that personal, local touch.

Jo hopes eventually to turn Raeloves into a full-time job, either working from home or running a shop.

Her clothing is regularly modelled by fashion bloggers and social media stars, for example Claudine Kehoe and Amy Smith.
