The 25-year-old will be taking on a fundraising skydive next month, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

She decided to take the plunge in memory of a special woman, Linda Harris, who lost her battle with cancer in November 2010, aged 62.

Gemma – who is mum to Jamie, aged seven – will be doing the skydive on Linda’s birthday, March 26.

Gemma said: “Linda was Jamie’s great-nana and she was an amazing nana.

“She was such a beautiful person and we miss her very much, as do many people.

“I’m trying to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan, so I decide to do something dramatic – jumping out of a plane.

“I’m getting nervous already – I am okay with flying usually, but the thought of jumping out at that height does scare me.

“It will be in the Lake District, which is where Linda’s ashes were scattered.

“And I chose her birthday as the day to do it.

“I am sure so many of us understand the pain of losing someone to cancer.

“Cancer is scary and I know I’m not the only one petrified of it – so I thought if I do something crazy like jump from a plane, at a height of 15,000ft at the speed of 120mph, maybe people might donate and help to try to beat cancer.

“The company I work for – Arthur J Gallagher, on Whitehills Business Park, are also going to match what I raise up to £700, which is fab.”
